This page provides information on care and support services in and around Sotogrande, as well as care and support focused social clubs, charities and volunteer opportunities
The Sotolife Care Team
We are a group of Sotogrande based volunteers providing weekly coffee mornings from a Cafe/bistro in Sotogrande and creating regular day trips or overnight events to places of art and cultural interest, and gastronomy. Currently we seek to widen the volunteer group so that each volunteer commits to hosting a coffee morning once a month (max) with the option to create a day trip once a year (so ideally there is something happening every month or two)
This initiative launches September 2019, so if you would like to assist, please get in touch now: firstname.lastname@example.org
Buddy Up Sotogrande
Inspired and initiated by Maggie and her team of 'Buddy up Manilva', we are collaborating with Buddy up Manilva to create a training programme for those who wish to form 'Buddy-up Sotogrande'. The voluntary service involves connecting with older people who may be alone and empowering them to foster independence and social confidence to help reduce loneliness . It may involve going to their home for a cuppa tea, calling in to see how they are, arranging for them to meet you at a social event (like the Sotolife coffee mornings or day trips), to connect with more people, and it may involve helping them with grocery shopping, or finding the support services they need.
All members of buddy up Sotogrande are required to have CRB police check from Spain upon application. Minors wishing to collaborate with this support service must always be accompanied by an adult.
Training will involve learning about the healthy and important boundaries of the service, not using this to promote ones own related business, the focus of empowering people rather then doing everything for them, and following the guidelines of this care and support work as set out by the Age Concern Charity (UK).

SoCCS? SoCCS is a local animal charity dedicated to working with communities and businesses to help manage the numerous street cat colonies in and around the Sotogrande area. We also seek to assist local authorities when there is a need, or when requested to do so. SoCCS focuses on two tasks:
- Trap, neuter and release of feral cats to reduce the cat population over time
- Feeding cats in established zones to make sure that feral cat colonies are healthy and, consequently, an effective natural force to control rats and mice, thus helping minimize the use of poisons that are both cruel to the animals and detrimental to the environment
