Care and Support:We support initiatives and projects that help people to feel safe, secure and cared about.
Integration: We foster understanding, acceptance, appreciation and compassion, and we cultivate a common ground from which all are welcome and included (we intend to create a bilingual system)
Inclusion: We recognise Sotogrande can be a lonely and isolating place. We want to identify vulnerable people and those who would benefit greatly from simple acts of kindness, care and support, and to support the development of services and projects that promote inclusion.
Collaboration: We want to create an open, friendly and welcoming platform upon which people feel they can offer ideas and suggestions and become part of the Sotogrande family that serves and supports each other.
Inspiration: We welcome and offer inspiration, ideas and initiatives that enhance the quality of life in our community.
Antonia Behan Twelve years ago I moved to Sotogrande and have lived between Gibraltar, Marbella and Sotogrande ever since. Today, my core work is as a coaching psychologist (MSc Child and adolescent Mental Health, BSc Psychology (Hons) Accredited Transformational Coach) , supporting adults and teenagers in the development of self-esteem, meaningful purpose and psychological well-being, and with a deep passion for providing awareness and education on preventative mental health measures. One of my important goals is to bring psychological well-being skills to schools and families, and I have so far succeeded in bringing these skills to four International schools in this area. I am passionate about empowering individuals to develop healthy and happy lives of meaning and purpose, this includes collaborating to cultivate positive living within our communities; I facilitate the integration of heart-centred values into educational and corporate leadership teams.
What I can contribute to Sotogrande community is this SotoLife platform to facilitate the development of new community projects, clubs and social activities, and to help promote existing projects and social businesses, so that we can connect, collaborate, inspire and support each other in co-creating a growing sense of community in Sotogrande. I can also co-clead the wine and tapas groups to ensure the network keeps growing and we continue to connect, make new friendships and have fun each month!
Hayley Francis In the community it has always been important for me to try to help others. It started off by arranging a few coffee mornings then by bringing together children’s classes for Sotogrande families and forming ideas for activities in the local area for all to enjoy. In the early days Soto Parents group formed to offer a connection and a platform to socialise but also to help new families settle into life here and make friends. The group continues to grow and is a social platform where parents feel comfortable to ask questions, ask for help/advice and from this it has allowed friendships to form through introductions and now families arrange meet ups and play dates on a daily basis. Over time it’s been possible to encourage more people to get involved and this now has blossomed with the support of some wonderful local businesses.
Currently with the help of another mum who volunteers her time each day the Facebook group now is able to share more information.
What is important to me is to create a community where everyone feels welcome!
